I don’t look like one but I am a Runner…

I’ve wanted to do this post for a long time and today is the day I publish it.

I am a runner. I don’t look like one. Some days I don’t feel like one. But I am a runner.

When I look on the mirror I see a lot of stuff I don’t like but today is a day to celebrate what the eye sees isn’t always what’s there…

When others look at me they see a big belly full of flab. That’s cool, cause looks are just an outside perspective. When I tell people I run they double take and I can see the instant question going through their minds, really? You run?

But here’s the deal- I meet a lot of people. Some are big and some are small. Some are tall and some are short. Some run fast and some run slow. Some run long and some run short. Some have been running since they were kids and others have had to take the long journey from the couch to how ever far they run. Most of us don’t “look” like runners. But when it comes down to it, if you run, you’re a runner, period.

We all have our reasons. We all have something we’re running to and something we are running from… Our “why” is different, our bodies are different, but there is one thing we all have in common- our hearts and our minds are linked by this silly little sport. We have an instant connection and bond. We all have an understanding of the challenges we go through on a daily basis. We all know the struggle it takes to start and continue moving forward.

So look at yourself in the mirror today and say with pride “I am runner and no one can ever take that away from me. I may not be fast or long but at the end of the day I know I give it everything I have because I have the heart of a runner and that is all that matters.”

We are all in this together and together we shall run.

Run Epic my friends!

I would love to share your running story. Please reach out to me and together we will show what runners really look like.
